Child & Youth Protection Workshop

Feel called to support children and youth ministry? All volunteers working with children and young people are required to complete the Child & Youth Protection (CYP) training within Community of Christ. This workshop will equip you to serve in these important ministry spaces and help create safe, welcoming and nurturing experiences for our children and young people.

Where and When

When: Sunday 4th October 2026, 4- 6pm

Where: Frankston Community of Christ, 2 Logan Street Frankston, 3199, Vic

What is the Child & Youth Protection Workshop?

The Child & Youth Protection Workshop is a training requirement as part of becoming a Registered Child & Youth Worker (RCYW) within Community of Christ.

RCYW support all ministries involving children and young people across the life of the church, including:

  • Community Camp

  • Children's Camps

  • Youth Camps

  • Congregational children's ministries

  • Other Mission Centre events involving children and young people

These ministries require multiple RCYW to be present. As a result, the availability of registered volunteers can sometimes determine whether a children's or youth activity is able to go ahead.

Becoming a RCYW does not mean you'll be expected to organise or lead camps or events. Instead, it equips you to support these ministries in whatever way you're comfortable, whether that's helping with activities, assisting ministry leaders, supporting behind the scenes, helping in the kitchen, or simply being another trusted adult present. Sometimes it can even look like offering support for your own grandchild or child.

Who can attend?

This workshop is open to anyone who would like to support children and youth ministries within Community of Christ.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, family member, young adult, or someone who enjoys supporting children and young people, we'd love to have you join us.

Already completed the workshop?

If you've completed the Child & Youth Protection Workshop before, you're still encouraged and invited to attend.

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Refresh your knowledge.

  • Hear any updates to Child & Youth Protection practices, including online ministry spaces

  • Gather with other parents, grandparents, volunteers, and ministry leaders who share a passion for supporting the next generation.
