Tuesday Church is not a congregation.

Tuesday Church emerged during the COVID-19 lockdowns, not from a program, but from a conversation. It began when one person voiced some questions and three friends responded, not with answers, but with care. They chose to spend more time together, creating space to sit with questions that don’t always find room to be discussed elsewhere.

Over time, that conversation grew into a rhythm of connection, curiosity and care that became something sacred.

It has now evolved into a small, trusted group of friends connected through the Community of Christ from across Australia who meet online weekly for conversation, reflection and spiritual community.

We don’t follow a formal structure or stream our gatherings publicly. There’s no fixed format or weekly agenda - sometimes we share stories, sometimes we explore scripture or a spiritual practice, sometimes we hold space for learning through workshops or classes.

What Holds Us Together

Many of us have been part of church communities in various forms. What drew us together wasn’t a program or structure - it was the relationships.

Today, Tuesday Church gives us room to explore faith without pressure, to share life’s questions and stories and to stay spiritually connected across disparate locations.

Even though we meet online weekly, in-person connection still matters deeply to us. Many of us participate in Mission Centre gatherings such as retreats, conferences, family camps and reunions. Tuesday Church also holds an annual winter retreat where we come together across state borders for conversation, sacraments and workshops. Some participants remain active in their local congregations, while some are friends of the church who were drawn to this group through shared curiosity.

Whilst this particular group is intentionally small and committed, it reflects our broader belief that sacred community can take many forms- that spiritual friendship is worth nurturing, wherever it begins.

Can I Join?

Tuesday Church is currently not open to new participants. Why?

What began as a small gathering of friends has gradually grown. We’ve reached a size where adding more people would shift the nature of the group.

It functions more like a closed small group than a congregation. Our commitment to trust and vulnerability means that we’re intentionally keeping it small.

We understand that this may be disappointing to those who are curious. Please know that this boundary isn’t about exclusion — it’s about caring for what’s already been built and allowing the space to remain spiritually spacious, safe and deeply connected for those already part of it.
