Celebrating 70 Years of Drummoyne Church

Drummoyne Church 70 Year Celebration
10:30am Sunday 29th March, 2026

This year we celebrate a remarkable milestone — 70 years of Drummoyne Church.

For seven decades, the Drummoyne congregation has been shaped not just by bricks and mortar, but by people. By friendships formed over cups of tea, by hymns sung and prayers spoken, by children growing up, families gathering, and lives marked in moments of joy and sorrow. It has been shaped by acts of service, faithfulness and a shared commitment to care for one another and the wider community.

When the foundation stone was laid on 9th January 1955, it marked a significant step of faith, as the congregation followed a new sense of calling. On the 25 February 1956 the new building was opened. Our 70-year celebration is an invitation to remember and connect. We will be sharing stories of the people and ministries that have woven the life of this church together — the programs, the conferences and gatherings, the outreach, the everyday moments that mattered more than we sometimes realised at the time. We’ll listen to memories, look back through photographs, and honour the many ways this community has offered love, community and presence over the years.

If Drummoyne Church has been part of your story — whether for a year or a lifetime — we warmly invite you to come and be part of this celebration. Bring your memories. Share your stories. Come and hear the stories of others. Together, we’ll relive the life of the church and give thanks for all that has been.

This celebration isn’t about nostalgia alone. It’s about recognising the living legacy of a community shaped by care, faith and connection — and honouring the people who made it so.

Even as we mark this occasion, the Drummoyne congregation is at a crossroads in redefining what our church community will look like in the future. Issues with water penetration, causing significant mould issues throughout the building, have prevented us from hosting our 70-year celebration at Drummoyne Church.

We are deeply grateful to the WPH congregation for their generosity in welcoming us and
providing a venue for this celebration.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed over Zoom.
