Walking Together in Christ - A Day of Baptism and Community on the Mid North Coast

On Sunday, 19 April 2026, we joyfully welcomed two new sisters into membership with Green Cathedral Ministries in the Community of Christ. Lee Lauer and Bec Veitch were baptized in front of the Green Cathedral by Wendy Ballard, and confirmed by Wendy Ballard and Fran Breen, in the presence of family, friends, the gathered congregation, and most especially the Spirit moving among us.

There were tears of joy and deep exhilaration as we celebrated their decision to walk the path of discipleship, entering into the waters of baptism and the life of the Spirit.

Welcome, dear friends and companions on the journey. May your path be filled with wonder, grace, and deep fulfilment.

The baptisms were part of a full day of gathering and worship across the Mid North Coast. Following the morning service at the Green Cathedral, members from the Mid North Coast congregations gathered at Tuncurry Community of Christ for a time of fellowship, beginning with a shared lunch and followed by a worship and Communion service. Apostle Lach Mackay brought the message and was accompanied by his wife, Christin, along with Meredith and Dennis Carr.

Fran Breen reflected on the way the day seemed to come full circle. During the morning children’s moment, Fran spoke about Christ walking beside us in our daily lives. In the afternoon service, Apostle Mackay returned to this same image through the story of the walk to Emmaus, echoing the quiet, faithful presence of Christ journeying with his disciples.

The day was marked by a deep sense of blessing as we shared together in the breaking of bread, not only in fellowship around the table, but also in the sacred act of Communion. As we ate and drank, we were spiritually nourished, and like the two travellers on the road to Emmaus, found our eyes opened to Christ’s presence among us.

We departed with grateful hearts, strengthened in community and renewed in spirit, carrying that sense of Christ’s presence with us into the days ahead.
