Dear members and friends,
As part of an organisational restructure within the Australia Mission Centre, the role held by Robert Thompson as Transformation Minister has been made redundant.
Robert commenced with Community of Christ on 1 February 2011 and has provided more than 15 years of dedicated service to the organisation. Robert’s contribution over those years has been extensive and deeply valued. His ministry has touched congregations, individuals, families and communities across the Mission Centre in countless ways.
Robert has served across the life of the Mission Centre with an extraordinary willingness to be present wherever he was needed. He has shared in worship and sacramental ministry, led Mission Centre gatherings, events and online worships, supported camps and reunions, travelled considerable distances to care for isolated members, and walked alongside congregations through times of change and discernment. He has also brought his experience and insight to important conversations about mission and the life of the church. Robert’s upfront ministry and leadership has been a very visible presence coupled with the quiet ministry of supportive relationships, pastoral care and a deep commitment to the people and communities he has served.
Robert remains a valued member and minister in Community of Christ, and we are deeply grateful for the many years of ministry and service he has offered through his employment.
Robert has served with commitment, generosity and a deep desire to invite people to Christ and share Christ’s peace. He has walked alongside people at important moments of their lives and has brought warmth, humour, compassion and faithfulness to his ministry.
I am profoundly grateful for Robert’s service and for the many ways he has helped shape the life of the Australia Mission Centre. His contribution cannot be measured simply by the responsibilities he has carried. It is also found in the relationships he has built, the people he has cared for and the lasting impact of his ministry.
Please join me in expressing our deep gratitude to Robert for his many years of dedicated service and in thanking both Robert and Jan for the generosity with which they have shared so much of themselves with the church.
Robert, thank you for all you have given during your years of employment with the Australia Mission Centre. Your contribution has been substantial, and the legacy of your service will remain.
