The Story of Tuesday Church - How We Gather Series

Tuesday Church began during the COVID-19 lockdowns, not as a program, but as a conversation between friends who needed space for honest questions, spiritual depth, and connection. What started as four people sitting with uncertainty has become a small and trusted community that meets online each week, holding sacred space for learning, reflection, and care.

We gather late on Tuesday evenings, keeping our rhythm simple but intentional. Sometimes we explore scripture or spiritual practices, sometimes we share stories, and sometimes we simply hold space for one another. The format shifts, but the heart remains the same: deep listening, shared vulnerability, and curiosity about God’s movement in our lives.

Over time, Tuesday Church has become a spiritual home for a small group of people across Australia: some active in congregations, others drawn in through friendship, all appreciative of a space that offers safety, regularity, and depth. Though we meet online, our connections don’t stay there. We also gather in person for sacraments, shared meals, and an annual winter retreat that brings us together across state borders.

What holds us together is not structure, but relationships: a commitment to show up for one another, to wonder together, and to nurture a faith that’s honest and spacious. Being part of a small group has given us a deep sense of belonging across geographical distances, helping us stay connected spiritually and relationally between larger in-person gatherings like Tiona Reunion, VIC Community Camp, and Mission Centre events.

Tuesday Church reminds us that sacred community doesn’t need to only depend on geography, it can be woven through shared curiosity, friendship, and the simple act of meeting, week after week, to listen and grow together.
