Every school term, the church hall at Frankston congregation fills with music, laughter, dancing and excited young people as we host our Junior Disco—but this event is about so much more than lights and songs.
At its heart, the Junior Disco is about community.
In a world where many families feel isolated, busy or disconnected, this night creates a safe and welcoming space where children can have fun, parents can relax, and friendships can grow. It is a place where people are accepted as they are, where everyone is welcome, and where genuine connection happens naturally.
What makes this event truly special is the incredible team of volunteers who give their time, energy and care each term. From setting up decorations and serving food, to greeting families at the door and helping children feel included, every volunteer plays an important role in creating an atmosphere of joy and belonging.
As a Pastor, one of the greatest blessings of these events has been the friendships formed along the way. Through simple conversations, shared laughter and serving together, meaningful relationships have developed between our church volunteers and the wider community. These connections remind us that ministry often begins with presence—simply showing up, caring for people and creating spaces where they feel seen and valued.
The Junior Disco is not designed with pressure or expectation. Instead, ministry happens naturally through hospitality, kindness and community. Families know they can come along, enjoy themselves and feel safe. Questions about the church, faith and community life are always welcomed, and curiosity is embraced with openness and grace.
We believe events like this matter because they communicate something powerful: that people belong before they believe, and that community can be a place of acceptance, encouragement and hope.
Each disco night may only last a few hours, but the impact often reaches far beyond the music. Friendships are formed, trust is built, and families discover they are not alone.
For everyone who volunteers, attends, supports and encourages this event—thank you for helping create a space where community truly comes alive.
