As we look ahead to IYF/SPEC 2027, we’re sharing stories from past participants about the lasting impact of international youth experiences. Their reflections remind us why these opportunities matter and why fundraising is so important in helping make them accessible for the next generation of Australian youth.
I came from a very small country town and thought myself a pretty big deal. Going overseas and spending time with so many other people from around Australia and the world made me realise I was just a little fish, which was very humbling and allowed me to grow as a person. It also showed me the diverse community we belong to. We are all very different in our likes, cultures and backgrounds but we all were all united by our core love and values we feel in God. Twenty-one years on, I still have friends that I met at IYF/SPEC.
And if you’re wondering whether you should go: travelling with a bunch of youth and cool leaders*, spending time away from home, and gaining a world perspective...why wouldn’t you go?!
