As we reflect on the recent Mission Centre Conference, both onsite and online, there’s a quiet sense that something meaningful unfolded among us, something rooted in deep listening, courageous sharing, and the ongoing work of becoming.
Throughout the day, we found ourselves gathered around stories of impact, possibility, and transformation. From the Saints Care update and its growing partnership with Taree Congregation, to the “Lay of the Land” report shared by Robert Thompson and Annie Falcke, we were reminded that the church is alive and moving, sometimes quietly, sometimes boldly, through the lives of members across the Mission Centre.
Our business and discernment session called us into that familiar rhythm of Community of Christ: listening together, thinking collectively, and shaping our path forward through common consent. These moments may not be exciting to all, but they are powerful. They reflect our commitment to slow, Spirit-led transformation.
And then… the Ordination worship of
Anne Bonnefin to the office of Seventy
Julie Crittenden to the office of Bishop
Two faithful leaders stepping into roles of invitation, stewardship, pastoral care, and spiritual oversight. We affirmed and upheld them in prayer and presence, recognising the thoughtful and Spirit-filled guidance they offer in this season.
None of this could have happened without the hands and hearts of many. We offer our deepest thanks to Tim Kent and Andrew Davies, who made sure those joining online felt seen and included. To our musicians, Greg Gildea and Matt Doubing, for their ministry of music, creating spaces of worship and beauty. To Linda Hazel, who assisted with online processes and counting. To Tim Prescott, who ensured those gathering in person were nourished. And to Jan Pratt and the Newcastle congregation, who opened their building, and their hearts, in generous hospitality.
Thank you to everyone who participated, both onsite and online. This is what makes us church. The presence. The willingness to keep showing up for one another and for the movement of the Spirit in our midst.
We came together to discern, to celebrate, to honour, and to imagine. And in doing so, we were reminded that transformation doesn’t just happen in big declarations, it happens in gathered community, in quiet conversations, and in shared vision.
We’re still on the path.
Still listening.
Still becoming.
May the seeds planted this weekend continue to grow in the weeks and months ahead.
And may we each ask ourselves:
What kind of soil are we becoming?
