The Daily Bread Devotional for 30 April by Brenda Carlile opens with Doctrine and Covenants 163:2a:
“Jesus Christ, the embodiment of God’s shalom, invites all people to come and receive divine peace in the midst of the difficult questions and struggles of life. Follow Christ in the way that leads to God’s peace and discover the blessings of all of the dimensions of salvation.”
These words really cut through the noise of my busy week. In the midst of full days and unanswered questions, the invitation to come and receive divine peace feels both simple and profound. In the final paragraph, Brenda writes, “God’s grace gives me what I lack in my own humanness. God stands with me to face my challenge.” Her reflection is a welcome reminder that I don’t have to have everything figured out, and I don't have to face life's challenges alone. I am simply invited to follow, to trust, and to receive.
If you could use this reminder too, I encourage you to take a few moments to read the full devotional and reflect on where you might be invited to receive Christ’s peace in your own life.
