One of the most treasured Enduring Principles in Community of Christ is the Blessings of Community. It reminds us that the gospel of Jesus Christ comes to life through loving relationships where each person is valued and embraced. This past Sunday, I witnessed that truth in meaningful ways during visits to the West Pennant Hills and Open Door congregations. In each setting, I experienced an authentic spirit of welcome and tangible expressions of care that reflected the very heart of our faith. These moments were a powerful reminder of what it means to live this principle together.
At West Pennant Hills, the warmth of welcome was immediate and heartfelt. From the warm greetings and smiles at the door to the thoughtful conversations over lunch, it was clear that this is a community shaped by love, mutual respect, and a desire to walk together in faith. The worship service was uplifting, and I was struck by the way our voices and stories blended to create a shared sacred experience. In moments of prayer, music, and reflection, the Spirit moved gently among us, reminding me that community is not just something we build, it is something we become.
Later that afternoon, I was privileged to join the Open Door congregation. True to its name, the Open Door offered a generous spirit of inclusivity, hospitality, and authentic belonging. In this setting, I experienced a community that makes room for both vulnerability and joy, where honest questions and heartfelt convictions are welcomed. It was a beautiful reminder that each congregation brings its own personality and rhythm yet is united by a shared commitment to love one another deeply.
These visits affirmed for me that the Blessings of Community are not abstract ideals, they are lived realities. They show up in the way we greet one another, how we listen, how we make space for diverse life experiences, and how we show up with compassion. I am grateful for the faithfulness and hospitality of each person I met. You are living witness to the sacred power of community.
As I continue to travel and connect with congregations across Australia, I carry with me the stories, laughter, and Spirit-filled moments we’ve shared. Thank you for embodying this Enduring Principle so fully and beautifully. You remind me that we are never alone on this journey. We walk it together, in Christ-centered community, where all can belong and all are welcome.
With gratitude for the journey we share,
