Greetings from the basement of the auditorium, where I am gathered with 200 leaders from mission centres from every continent for the next 3 days to worship, learn, share and dialogue about some of the 'big questions' we are wrestling with as a community. At the International Leaders Meeting, we share together and listen, we are learning about the rich ways in which the spirit breathes in each part of the world, and the different struggles and joys that each community is experiencing.
It is wonderful to hear of the ways in which Community of Christ is working in local communities to invite and transform lives. The very specific ministries that are arising from local needs, local relationships, and local responses by faithful members in each part of the world. During these 3 days of meetings we have the opportunity to break into small groups for dialogue, with representatives from multiple nations. Hearing the experiences and perspectives of others has been nourishing, both in the sharing of common struggles, and the inspiration that comes from hearing stories of growth and change in other places.
I have discovered that other places in the world are already innovating and experimenting in ways that Australia would like to innovate, and am now connected with those folks. I have met colleagues from the Mission Centres in our new Field arrangement, and we are planning a number of collaborations. I have been heartened by the sense of shared endeavour, and shared mission, in this group this week.
Soon, our group of leaders will merge with the larger church body for World Conference. I hope you will also join us, from the loungerooms of Australia, as we each contribute to the energy and spirit of Conference 2025.
With you in Spirit,
Annie
